Mayor Chada called the meeting to order with Moody and Ackman in attendance.

Reports:

W/S:  DRW meeting 3/7/07 and One Call meeting 3/19/07
Street: Ackman shared visit with commissioners with the board; still looking for street maintenance
Financial: Financial reports were incomplete due to lack of mail
Grounds: Chipper was declared surplus property with a motion from Moody, 2nd Chada and will be advertised as such.  Ackman was directed to determine cost on the tractor
125th: Process will begin to obtain a Governor’s Proclamation

A motion by Moody, 2nd Chada was made to approve the February minutes as read.

Old Business: 

The Legion lease was signed for the year 2007.
A motion by Moody, 2nd Chada was made to approve the annual report for 2006 as presented

New Business: Census training was discussed

A motion by Chada, 2nd Moody was made to declare the month of March Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month with the following proclamation:

Office of the Mayor

WHEREAS, individuals with developmental disabilities, their families, friends, neighbors, and co-workers encourage everyone to focus on the abilities of all people; and

WHERAS,  the most effective way to increase this awareness is through everyone’s active participation in community activities and the openness to learn and acknowledge each individual’s contribution; and

WHEREAS, opportunities for citizens with developmental disabilities to live as independently and productively as possible must be fostered in our community; and

WHEREAS, we encourage all citizens to support opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities in our community that include full access to education, housing, employment, and recreational activities; and

WHEREAS, through increased community, state, and national awareness of programs and activities, the public will better understand the potential and needs of individuals with developmental disabilities.

NOW, THEREFORE, I Mark Chada, Mayor of the City of Letcher, South Dakota, do hereby proclaim that March 2007 be observed as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, and urge all citizens in the city of Letcher and all community organizations join in the observance.
