Letcher LowDown - December 21, 2009
Letcher LowDown
December 21, 2009
The season is upon us as well as winter driving. If you are planning on traveling watch the weather. We want all of ourreaders to have safe holidays. Nothing is as precious as friends, family, and the moments spent together.
Congratulations to Ashly and Jeremy Uecker on the birth of their daughter, McKenzie Jean, Friday morning.
Congratulations to Carlee Gregg and Charlie Johnson on the birth of their son, Corbin Ray, Friday evening.
The Town-n-Kountry 4-H club hosted a potluck for area residents Sunday evening at the Community Center. 4-H members presented a fantastic program for those attending. You can see the pictures at:

Here's a cute website - Type in any Christmas song and see what the little puppets do.
Also, type in any non-Christmas song (I typed in Happy Birthday) and you'll get a kick out of the response.
One of the funniest I typed in was Jingle Bell Rock... they forget the words half way through. HOW DO THEY COME UP WITH THIS STUFF?

As I am running things through my head to include in this issue, my mind keeps returning to how fortunate we are that we live where we do. Yesterday, late afternoon I met Brooks returning to his office in his propane truck. My first thought was Ooops someone was without heat. Later in the day, I needed a phone number which wasn t in the book. I called a neighbor and got the phone number. When ABC had a fire a couple of months ago, our volunteers quickly responded at 4:30 in the morning and spent most of the morning at the fire. I was fortunate enough to be asked to assist with creating a list of people who may be in need of a food basket from our County Food Pantry. I work with great people on the Letcher Town Board, the Letcher Community Development Foundation, the Letcher Economic Area Development board, Sanborn Central Horizons II, and at the Sanborn Central School. Playing turkey bingo the other night, I looked around the room and saw several families with 3 generations present. When someone is searching for family information, we have someone willing to provide area information just a phone call away. If I have a problem with my computer there are several people willing to guide me in the right direction. I have fantastic friends, some of which I have known for years, some I ve met along the way, and some relatively new. I have a wonderful family as well as loving pets (as long as the food dishes aren t empty). These ramblings are leading you to the fact that I am so thankful that we live where we do.
